Fall Newsletter 2007

Upper Sandusky Masonic Bodies

On Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, Warpole Lodge will again be holding its annual meeting and election of officers. The required meeting will include annual reports on the activities of the lodge and a complete report on the finances. The election of officers follows the reports. Following the business meeting, FREE shrimp will be served. Due to the major hurricane a few years ago, we switched the menu from oysters to shrimp. The members must have liked them since they ate nearly 5 pounds of the little fellers with cocktail sauce.
In addition it’s harder to find cooks willing to make oyster stew and bread and fry the oysters. The last time we purchased oysters, they were nearly $70 a gallon and we needed about 2 gallons. Several members either do not like them or have diets that do not include them. So a conversion to the less expensive, non-cooked shrimp makes sense.
So if you would like to try to put shrimp on the endangered species list, come to the meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Thanks to financial support of our Eastern Star Chapter and the Pancake & Sausage Committee, we now have beautiful new carpeting in our facility.
Shortly after our annual 4th of July meeting, a crew of approximately 20 started the difficult job of preparing for the installation of the new carpeting. They moved everything out of the lodge room into the hallways and ante rooms. Frey Carpet from Kirby then started removing the 33 year old royal blue carpeting in the lodge room along with the older gray carpeting and old padding that were left under the royal blue 33 years ago. Our best guess is that the gray carpet and its padding were installed in the early 1950s.
After the lodge room was done, our crew of about 20 showed up again to move every thing into the lodge room so Frey’s could start on the stairs, hallways and ante rooms. After that was done, the TV room was completed.
A third time our crew showed up to clean and put everything back in place. To give you an idea, the main floor of the lodge room was full and even had items stacked very high. It looked like a garage sale on steroids.
The last time the crew met to clean and put everything away, the lodge treated the workers to soda and pizza at East of Chicago. Thanks carpet crew for a job well done!

Jim McDonald has finished his term as Grand High Priest and presided over the 191st Annual Convocation of the Grand Chapter held at the NIA Center at the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky. To give you an idea of the size of this event: 466 room nights were used and six meals were scheduled, with the largest being a formal sit-down dinner for 415 persons. Meal purchases from the hotel totaled in excess of $21,000 and a little math: 466 room nights at $75 each plus tax equals big business for a hotel hosting this event.
Our members of McCutchen Chapter #96 had the honor of opening the session, which was held in a 100’x200’ room, a little larger room than what we have in Upper Sandusky.

Yes plans are in the works for another friendship night to be held in the Spring of 2008. Some may think that’s a long way off, but one of the biggest jobs is compiling a list of people to invite.
You can help. Do you have a relative, friend, co-worker or fellow church member who you think would make a good member? Now’s your chance to have us invite them to a FREE meal, some excellent, brief entertainment and encourage them to petition one of our Masonic groups.
Just give us some basic information in the coupon below (their name & phone number will be enough) and send it to the Masonic Center, 118 W. Johnson St., Upper Sandusky OH 43351.
We do not have to tell your prospects who submitted their names, just tell us that and we will not use it.
This WILL NOT be a high pressure sale pitch. Many members are uncomfortable about approaching prospects, so why not let us help? Even if prospects choose not to petition, I am sure they will have a better outlook on our fraternity.
The last program we held, obtained several petitions and was a huge success.

.................................

Please send information about the “Frendship Night” to the persons below, who I think would make good members.
