A story about the trowel which has been passed down by word of mouth from 1909. Most Worshipful Grand Master Hoskinson was to have received the trowel upon completion of the cornerstone ceremony. Worshipful Master Artz, prominent local citizen, in true Masonic fashion provided a "substitute" for the trowel and retained the original for the lodge.

These two pictures hang in the preparation room and formerly hung in Marseilles Lodge before it was closed.
On the left is a 1900's member's passport showing the journey from Entered Apprentice to Order of the Temple.
On the right is Moses H. Kirby, 2nd Master of Warpole Lodge, who served 20 terms as Master.
